Janell started swimming at a very young age, racing competitively throughout high school. While attending the University of San Diego, she continued her competitive drive by joining the cross-country team. During a summer job she was challenged to do a sprint triathlon since running and swimming were parts of her daily life. After a few triathlons, it was clear cycling was a natural talent. After racing in the 1995 Hawaii Ironman and ITU Age Group World Championships, Janell transitioned from triathlon to competitive road racing. She raced as a Cat 1 Road Cyclist on the Elite Landis Racing Team competing in such events as the Hewitt Packard Challenge a 10-day stage race with every major team throughout the world and the 2000 Olympic Trials. In 2005/2006 shortly after returning to triathlon, Janell took some time off for the birth of her twins Cole and Cloe. Today, Tim and Janell are kept running with the 2 year olds! Janell is looking forward to a busy racing calendar in 2007 with a return to the Ironman distance race during April's Arizona Ironman.
